The Russell Motor Car

Social Media 2D Animation

As part of my 2D animation course at the University of Toronto Biomedical Communications Program, I created this 20-second 2D animation to promote the Russell Motor Car, one of the first Canadian vehicles designed and manufactured domestically. The vehicle is currently on display at the Ingenium Museum of Science and Innovation in Ottawa.

This animation, intended for the general public, uses playful graphics most recognizable to Canadians, alongside intentional colourization and a “hand-drawn” aesthetic to capture the attention of mobile viewing audiences. Additionally, this animation was one of three pieces selected by Ingenium for incorporation into their internal social media library.
